Joseph

Joseph’s family who lived in the  a village in the Western Region of Ghana,  was very poor struggling to survive.  He come to our attention when we saw him offering to do work for next to nothing just to be able to buy something small for his family.  His father had no work and his Mother was disabled, he had two brothers and a sister.

He had studied hard at the local Church School where he went to help five days a week for 150cds equivalent of US$2 a month.

We talked to him and saw what a lovely caring person he was, someone who deserved any help we could give him.

His dream was to go to Nursing College so he could work as a Nurse helping others as well as earning money for his family.

He had no way to pay for the applications forms let alone for the course fees.

We provided money for him to get the forms, he applied for 4 colleges was invited for an interview with one and was offered admission for the full course.

We paid the course fees, the money to buy what he needed to attend college and also for a laptop and other expenses he had.

We also provide him support money each month as they have to cover their own breakfasts each day and other small items.

We have committed to covering the whole course for him.

We saw the state his family was in and organized for them to get better accommodation and also monthly support money for them to have a better quality of life.

Joseph is now on his way o becoming a qualified nurse and becoming a part of the community helping others and earning a wage.

Vera

Vera’s dream was to be a teacher, her family were poor and her Mother borrowed money from people to pay for the first two terms.

Vera's plans was that she would be able to work at the markets in the evening unfortunately this was not the case and they had no money to pay back the people who were now threatening to take  their mere belongings etc.

Vera  was also facing having to leave the college and not finish the course.

We were able to repay the loan monies and cover her future fees as well as provide monthly support money.

Her family was thrilled they no longer had the worry and stress of the money issue and she could help them with her monthly support money.

She is in her third term and has done practical work at a small school in a village in the Western Region.

She is looking forward to getting her degree and teaching children in remote areas of Ghana.

 JANET

Janet s family was suffering difficulties just surviving; she had studied hard as she had a dream of becoming a nurse.

She had managed to borrow enough money to submit 3 applications to different colleges but couldn’t rise any more.

One of the colleges requested her to come for an interview she was distort as she barely had the funds to travel there let alone for the fees.

We found out about her situation and provided the travel money and when she was offered a placement we provided the funds for the course and also monthly support money.

She is overwhelmed with what has happened and is studying diligently so she will be able to make everyone proud of her and so she working diligently.

She will do her first placement shortly in the Upper Western Region which she is excited about.

Andrea

Andrea had managed to learn with a Master Seamstress making both womens and mens clothes,  her time with the lady was up and to gain any further employment or do work for herself she had to have a certain type of sewing machine which even second hand was expensive.

We heard about her and  managed to get  the machine she needed,  she is now working from home and making clothes and money that supports her family.

Her future plans are to organize a place where she can get other sewers working for her and have a good business for the future.  We are planning to help with the funding of setting it up.

Olivia

Olivia was supposed to do her  high school  exams   which here are expensive and are paid well in advance,  her family couldn’t afford them,  we were able to cover them for her and she sits for her exams shortly,  we wish her the best.

Fisherman

A man in a small fishing village,
his boat was badly damaged and he couldn’t use it, there were five
other fishermen that went with him that couldn’t work also.  We funded the repair of the boat and necessary equipment, he and the five other are now out working and bringing fish home to sell.
